Five Star prospect Johnuel 'Boogie' Fland discusses his recruitment
'24 'Boogie' is one of the hottest players in the country, fortunately, he is from New York and we get to watch him often. I don't evaluate middle school but he would always come across my timeline and naturally, as a scout, you become intrigued. After watching a few Stepinac games in 2020 at the 'Gauchos Roundball Classic' I knew he had the potential to be one of the best prospects in the country. I was able to catch up with Boogie, who is extremely busy lately, and ask a few questions about his recruitment.
You've had a ton of success in your early career, what keeps you motivated?
"Honestly. It’s just what I want to do and what I love to do. I love the game of basketball. I like putting in the work that is necessary for me to be great and for me to contribute to my team." He continued to focus on family motivations, "Of course, I got motivations like wanting to move my family out of New York and get them a house and stuff but the main thing that motivates me is me wanting to be the best version of myself on and off the court and mastering my craft."

Which colleges have been most active in your recruitment process?
"Everyone has been active and continues to reach out. Virginia Tech and UConn have noticeably been active. All the other schools have been staying in reach."
Each school has its own unique playing style. While some programs play a similar game, how would you describe your specific style?
"My play style is whatever the team needs me to do to get the job done. If the team needs me to rebound the ball and play make that’s what I would do. If the team needs buckets. I can become an aggressive scorer."
Boogie continues to showcase his versatility on the floor. He has the ability to effectively play both guard positions, something that has been eye catching since Day 1.

Johnuel 'Boogie" Fland, 15, is surrounded by amazing parents and coaches who help make important decisions. He has been able to secure NIL deals with Spreadshop, New Balance, along with potential others, some in the works. Stepinac partnered with Accelerated Sports Ventures to assist Boogie and his teammates with the new and unique NIL process. Things are going in the right direction for Team Boogie.
